I am a follower of the Man who walked the shores of Galilee and bid people to come and follow him. As I do my best to follow him, I reflect on what that call means in my context, perched here on the top of a hill in just outside the burby-burbs (does that make them the semi-burbs?) in Middle Tennessee, outside of my new hometown, wonderful Music City aka Nashville.
I’ve had a blog identity crisis… I’ve been working on integrating the various pieces of my life into a whole. deepsoil was started to discuss theology, ecclesiology, and the emerging church. I’ve up and gone post-emergent (whatever that means!) on a bunch of my fellow bloggers, thereby losing that niche in the blog-o-sphere, and trying to reinvent deepsoil.
I want to write a blog that is just me, ramblings and life story, because in the grand scheme of things, this is the kind of blog I like to read. deepsoil has been more and more that way with reflections on everything from cooking to life to some reflections on things running around in my head from theology to personal journey with God sort of things.
In the interests of simplifying, I’ve chosen a standard theme, one that I hope will keep me out of the css on the site as I can upload banner images via this theme without having to dig into the css. I’m learning that just because I can do something, doesn’t mean I have to do it.
And so here begins a new chapter in my journey with God, my husband, and our psycho dog of many names (officially named Otto).
This chapter will, Lord willing, see us building a house on a hill, and as the adventure continues, see us adding children to the mix and learning what it means to live all over again.
Welcome.

nice. simple, clean. a good start. though i have been around since your emergent days.
lol, yes, that’s true… Who would have guessed we’d have ended up in the same city (more or less)? Good stuff.
Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve checked your blog. I, uh, tend to just check my email these days. Anyway, I’ve been around since your emergent days too. I understand the cleanness but I always admired your very pretty layouts.
I’ve decided to try blogging at WordPress (http://vagabondmemoirs.wordpress.com/). I have a Xanga, but that’s mostly school-life related blogging and I want a more grown-up platform. Anyways… wish me luck! I hope WordPress isn’t too hard to figure out.
